Be Strong, Be Confident, Be Successful

Newport Bridge Blog

Why are photographers so interested in images of bridges and or piers, I know I am guilty of this fascination. Maybe it’s the strength of the ocean or Mother Nature pounding against the structure, maybe it’s because no matter what life throws at the structure it doesn’t give an inch, maybe it’s a metaphor for life? Like in life your ability to weather any storm or situation truly depends on how deep your rooted like the base of the pier or bridge if your deeply connected in either your faith, beliefs, family, or what grounds you in life, gives you the foundation to ride out the storms and set backs of life and come out of them stronger than ever and ready with the new found confidence to handle the next storm in life. Be strong, be confident, be diligent, and be successful.

Catch A Wave Kids

Catch a wave dude, if you can, and he didn’t that time, but the ocean is like life after one disappointment, we get a chance for redemption, and the next round of waves be caught one and hitched a ride with mother nature. The thing that really caught my eye was this young girl watching, you can tell she wanted to try, but wasn’t sure if she really wanted to. I guess she was getting a little closer wave after wave, she got knocked down a few times, and before I left she did start body surfing, good for you kiddo! Another person hooked for life body surfing and maybe latter surfing, scuba diving, not really sure, but once your love for the ocean takes hold of you, you hooked for life, and to that I say amen, welcome to the community of ocean lovers, enjoy the journey, and every wave going forward.

Do Whales know its Christmas?

Do Whales know its Christmas? I wonder how much the creatures of the sea know about what we land bound creatures really do, maybe it’s silly or is it. When I am at the beach in the winter and it’s the holidays you really can’t tell what the season is on land based on the perspective, if your ocean bound you would know the season changes except for the weather and migrating habits. While on land without the benefit of advertising, calendars, displays in retail and homes would you really know what time of year it is? In the sea its business as usual the sole concern of every creature is survival of the species, keep the family intact, don’t get eaten. On land we get so distracted by obligations and the hustle of life! If we could live a simpler life and be focused on the very basics would we know when the holidays are, I say yes and I say we would get more joy out of them. We would be able to really enjoy the season because we would not be trying to keep up with the Jones or what advertising thinks we should be and we could live more like we were meant to be. I wonder if God ever says to his Angles, look at these people how could they have gotten so far of track, I hope they are listening I can get them back on the right track, back to peace on earth and good will towards all men.

Man Against Wave

This skimboarder was fun, he was aggressive in his approaches, and I enjoyed his “Go For It” attitude. Skimboarding or skimming is a board sport, where the skimboard is the smaller counterpart to the surfboard without the fins. A skimboarder inters the wave from the shoreline and glides across the water’s surface. This was an interesting angle, I was on the bluff looking slightly down towards the action. It was a good day for waves and a good day for people watching, all the tourist were covered in oil and in full beach mode. This is my paradise on earth!

Wipe Out at Newport Beach California. This was fun not because I wish failure on anyone, but because I caught it on my camera 🙂 He was doing very well for several runs and then Mother Nature showed him who’s really in control the law of average’s, etc. Whenever you spending the day at the beach in the surf, it’s a great day!

It’s a Bird – It’s a Plane – It’s a Flying Tourist?

What made this interesting to me, I noticed after I looked at the image, at a much later time. This tourist was with his girlfriend and I was shooting people playing in the surf, when I herd him say to her; let’s see how high I can get my feet off the ground…I thought this might be interesting, I turned around and captured his second attempt! What made this image even more interesting was the lack of reaction from the people a few feet away in the background…then I remembered, this is Southern California, nothing fazes them.
